Who is responsible
Jonathan Barnham, trading as Vital Edge Therapy, is responsible for the personal information described here. In data protection terms he is the controller.
You can reach him at vitaledgetherapy@gmail.com, or by post at Crescent Road, Kingston upon Thames, KT2 7RD.
What is collected, and why
When you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, a phone number if you choose to give one, and your message. It is used to reply to you and to arrange a session, and for nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list.
When you call
The practice number is answered by Susie, an AI assistant, so the phone is never left ringing while Jonathan is working. She takes your name, your number and what you would like to book, and passes it to Jonathan, who confirms every booking himself. The call is transcribed so he can see what was asked, and no recording of it is kept; the transcript is kept for 30 days and then deleted.
When you come for a session
Before working, Jonathan asks about the problem, your health, any medication and any recent injury or surgery, because some of those change what is safe to do. If he writes anything down, it is a short note on paper, kept with him and nowhere else. It is never typed into a computer or an app.
Information about your health is a special category of personal data in law. Jonathan only records it with your agreement, which he asks for at the start of the session, and you can say no. If you do, he may not be able to treat you safely, and he will tell you so.
When you visit this website
The site counts visits using Plausible Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not collect any information that identifies you. It records things like which page was viewed and roughly which country the visit came from, and nothing more.
The homepage remembers which of its two starting points you chose, by storing one word in your own browser. It never leaves your device and is not sent to anyone.
This website sets no cookies of its own and none from anyone else. The contact page can show two maps from Google Maps, but only if you press Show the map. Until then nothing is loaded from Google. If you do, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy rather than this one, and the choice is not remembered for your next visit.
The legal basis
Replying to your message and arranging a session is done because you asked for it, which the law calls taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Treating you is the contract itself. Counting website visits without identifying anybody is a legitimate interest: knowing which pages people read.
Health information is recorded only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else sees it
Nobody sees your notes but Jonathan. Your information is never sold, and it is never shared with anyone for marketing.
A few services handle information on the practice's behalf, only to do the job described next to them:
- Google (Gmail), where your messages arrive and are answered.
- Web3Forms, which carries a message from the contact form to that inbox and keeps no copy of it.
- RochSolutions, which runs Susie and holds call transcripts for 30 days.
- Vercel, which hosts this website and keeps standard technical logs.
- Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without identifying anybody.
Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK's data adequacy arrangements or approved contract terms.
Jonathan will share information without your agreement only if the law requires it, or if he believes someone is at serious risk of harm.
How long it is kept
- Messages stay in the inbox while the conversation is ongoing. If no session follows, they are deleted within 12 months of the last message.
- Session notes are kept only while you are seeing Jonathan, and are shredded within 3 months of your last session.
- Call transcripts are deleted after 30 days.
- Website visit counts contain nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing personal to delete.
Your rights
You can ask Jonathan for a copy of what he holds about you, ask him to correct it, ask him to delete it, or ask him to stop using it. Where you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time. There is no charge, and he will reply within one month.
Write to vitaledgetherapy@gmail.com. He may ask you to confirm who you are before handing anything over, so that your information only ever goes to you.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please tell Jonathan first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If the way the practice handles information changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. It was last updated on 21 September 2026.
