Who you are booking with
Sessions are provided by Jonathan Barnham, trading as Vital Edge Therapy, at Crescent Road, Kingston upon Thames, KT2 7RD, and at The FIT Partnership, 50 High Street, Esher, KT10 9QY. Every session is with Jonathan.
By booking a session you agree to these terms. They do not affect your statutory rights.
What the sessions are
Vital Edge offers sports massage, deep tissue massage and soft tissue work for injury recovery. Jonathan holds a VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy. He is not a physiotherapist, a doctor or any other regulated healthcare professional, and a session is not a medical diagnosis or medical treatment.
If what you describe, or what he finds, needs a diagnosis, a scan or a prescription, Jonathan will tell you and suggest who to see rather than carry on.
Sessions are for adults aged 18 and over.
Before your session
Please tell Jonathan about anything that could affect the work: a medical condition, medication (particularly blood thinners), pregnancy, a recent injury, surgery or fracture, a skin condition, or anything else you are unsure about.
He may change what he does, or decline to treat, if it would not be safe to go ahead. If he declines at the start of a session for that reason, you are not charged.
If you feel unwell, have a fever or an infection on the day, please rearrange rather than come in.
Prices and payment
A 30-minute session is £65, a 60-minute session is £125 and a 90-minute session is £180. The Full Body MOT is 90 minutes and £195. The price is confirmed when you book.
Payment is taken at the end of the session, by card or bank transfer.
All sessions are self-funded. The practice does not bill health insurers, and cannot accept insurance or healthcare vouchers as payment.
Booking
You can book by calling, where Susie, the practice's AI assistant, can hold a slot for you, or by sending a message through the contact page. A booking is confirmed once Jonathan confirms it.
Cancelling or moving a session
- More than 24 hours' notice: move or cancel free of charge.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: half the session fee is charged.
- No notice, or not arriving: the full session fee is charged.
Life happens. Jonathan can waive a charge for a genuine emergency, and will usually offer to move the session instead.
If you arrive late, the session still ends at the booked time so the next person is not kept waiting, and the full fee applies.
If Jonathan has to cancel, he will tell you as early as he can and offer another time. You will never be charged for a session he cancels.
Memberships and standing slots
Standing slots. A standing slot is a time held for you every week, fortnight or month. Each session is paid for at the normal price when it happens. Missing one follows the cancellation terms above. Either of you can end a standing slot at any time, and the time is then released.
Memberships. There are three: Race Ready, In Season and Year Round. What each includes and costs is shown on the membership page and confirmed when you join. Membership sessions are with Jonathan, at the price of a normal session, and some are longer at no extra cost.
Race Ready is 8 sessions. Half the price is paid when you join and half at the sixth session. The sessions are for use within 12 weeks of the first one.
In Season and Year Round are paid monthly, in advance, for the slot held for you that month. You can end either at any time. It stops at the end of the month you have already paid for, and nothing more is taken.
Cancelling a session inside a membership. With more than 24 hours’ notice the session is moved, not lost. With less notice, or if you don’t arrive, it counts as used, unless Jonathan waives it for an emergency.
If you stop early, or Jonathan has to. Each session you have had counts as £125, the price of an hour, even if it ran to 90 minutes. Anything you have paid beyond that is refunded within 14 days. If Jonathan can’t continue, for illness or any other reason, every unused session is refunded in full.
If you join online, by phone or by message, you have 14 days to change your mind and get your money back. If you ask for sessions to start inside those 14 days, any session you have had is paid for at the normal price.
Getting to the sessions
The Kingston clinic is not step-free: there are steps up to the treatment room. The Esher venue has step-free access. If access matters to you, say so when you book and Jonathan will arrange the session at Esher.
If something goes wrong
It is normal to feel some tenderness for a day or two after firm work. If anything worries you afterwards, contact Jonathan, and seek medical advice if symptoms are severe or unusual.
If you are unhappy with a session, please tell Jonathan by email at vitaledgetherapy@gmail.com. He will reply within 14 days.
Jonathan will carry out every session with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, liability is limited to the price of the session concerned.
The legal part
